A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Tynecastle Park as a Hearts of Midlothian supporter tragically passed away during the club’s match against Rangers FC.

The medical emergency occurred near the home end of the stadium, where 79-year-old Charles Stuart collapsed. Fans and eyewitnesses reported seeing the distressing scene as fellow supporters attempted to alert stadium stewards. A Rangers FC medic quickly intervened, performing CPR in an effort to save his life, while an ambulance also attended the scene. Despite these efforts, Hearts FC later confirmed that Stuart had tragically passed away at the stadium.
His son, Paul Muriel, shared an emotional statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Thank you all. It was my dad who sadly passed today at 79. Thank you to all the people that helped. Rest in peace, Dad Charles Stuart. Love from his wife Sandra, son Paul Muriel, and his grandkids Darren, Laura, and Emma.”
Both Hearts FC and Rangers FC released statements expressing their condolences, mourning the loss of a dedicated supporter. It is believed that Police Scotland has been approached for further comment on the incident.
The tragic passing of Charles Stuart has left the football community in mourning, with fans of both clubs paying tribute to him online and at the stadium.
